Queen Elizabeth's Global Schools

A new venture for Queen Elizabeth’s School

Dear parents,

The Governing Body and I are delighted to announce a ground-breaking initiative which will provide additional, large-scale funding needed for us to continue to be ‘a state school like no other’, delivering the best possible results for your sons.

Queen Elizabeth’s School is going into a partnership with educational business Global Education (GEDU), who will be establishing three new schools overseas under the Queen Elizabeth’s School banner.

The new schools will bear our QE branding and name. Whilst delivering a curriculum appropriate to their location, the QE international schools will draw upon our QE Barnet approach and aspire to our excellent record of achievement.

Opening affiliated schools overseas is an established model for leading UK independent schools but (we believe) that this is the first time that a UK state school has followed this path.

We will invest the revenue we receive from this enterprise over time into significant capital expenditure projects, including new and improved facilities at the QE Barnet campus.

Introducing QE international schools

There are initial plans for three schools, two in India and one in the United Arab Emirates. In India one school is planned in GIFT City (a new financial and technology hub in Gujarat province) and the other in Gurugram (a satellite city near Delhi). Dubai is the likely location of the UAE school. The schools will be run as separate entities and each will have their own headteacher, senior leadership team and dedicated teaching staff.

Unlike QE Barnet, the QE international schools will be co-educational, and some will be through-schools accepting children from kindergarten through to Sixth Form. Also, unlike QE Barnet, the international QE schools will be fee-paying and not state funded.

The international schools will be managed by GEDU, working with each school’s dedicated leadership and staff teams on the ground. The QE Barnet leadership and teaching staff will continue to devote their energy and expertise to delivering an exceptional education here in Barnet. The formation of the new international schools will not impact QE Barnet’s operations, policies or admissions procedures.

The timeline for the launch of the new schools will be finalised in the coming months.

Partnering with Global Education

Global Education (GEDU) is a UK registered and UK based education business with a strong track record of establishing, operating, and growing successful education brands in both the UK and overseas. There are currently 60,000 students in GEDU educational establishments across the world.

GEDU was attracted to the approach we take in providing a well-rounded education, our exemplary academic achievements and pupil outcomes, and the long-standing heritage at our heart.

GEDU are providing all of the investment for this project and will run the international schools.

The Friends of Queen Elizabeth’s School have set up a registered UK company, FQE International Enterprises Limited (FQEIE), which is wholly owned by them. FQEIE will manage the commercial side of this partnership, including giving funds to FQE which, like all of its existing donations, will then be used solely to further educational opportunities at QE Barnet.

The additional revenue stream from the new schools will be combined with the generous donations which we very gratefully receive from parents and alumni. Together, the parent and alumni donations and the new income will enable us to put our plans for state-of-the-art new facilities into action.

Feedback

We hope that our whole community will join with us in welcoming the opportunities that this initiative can bring to our school. We understand that we are breaking new ground and that you may have questions for us. I will be speaking about this initiative at this term’s Parent Briefing Evenings and will be happy to answer your questions in person. Alternatively, please send any specific queries to QEglobal@qebarnet.co.uk.

With very best wishes,

Neil Enright, Headmaster
