James Kane BA, PGCE, NPQSL, NPQH, who joined QE as Assistant Head (Pupil Destinations) in September 2022, took up his first teaching post, as a Geography teacher, in 2006.
He took his first degree at the London School of Economics and has remained in the capital ever since, working in positions of increasing seniority at schools in Lewisham, Newham, Harrow and Stratford.
In his most recent post, at the London Academy of Excellence (a sixth form free school), he oversaw the transformation of professional development and quality assurance programmes to improve the quality of teaching: A-level results and value-added measures have both risen dramatically, while staff turnover has fallen sharply.
Having initially completed his senior leadership professional qualification (NPQSL) in 2015, he completed his headship qualification (NPQH) in 2021 and then embarked on his Master’s degree in Education.
Mr Kane has worked as a GCSE and A-level examiner since 2012. He also previously served as a Governor at The Boxing Academy, an ‘outstanding’-rated alternative provision free school in Hackney educating the most hard-to-reach young people through the medium of boxing.
