Opportunity to give
Whether you can get to the School on 15th June or not, donating via our JustGiving page is one of the easiest ways to help FQE hit its £25,000 target for Founder’s Day 2024. Founder’s Day is the single largest annual fundraising event for FQE, a registered charity that has helped transform the School campus and the educational opportunities on offer. We are all privileged to be part of the Elizabethan community; please give what you can and help secure a great legacy from this special Founder’s Day.
Thank you.

Your invitation to Founder’s Day 2024!

I warmly invite you to attend our historic Founder’s Day on Saturday 15th June. Last year’s Founder’s Day was brilliant, with so many people coming along and everyone having a good time. It’s such a great opportunity to join with others in the Elizabethan community and enjoy a fun day out, while simultaneously supporting the School.
Everyone is welcome: of course, it is good to see current boys and their families; it is especially lovely to welcome Old Elizabethans, former staff and parents, and local residents. The past couple of years have seen more alumni of all generations turning out to celebrate with us: I look forward to that trend continuing.
Tradition is, of course, an important element of Founder’s Day: not just the thanksgiving service and Reading of the School Chronicle, but also the afternoon fete, now running for nearly 60 years! Set out below are the essentials of the day – full details of the events, and much more besides, will be available in our printed fete programme.
Amid the difficult economic climate, the fundraising element of Founder’s Day is crucial in ensuring QE maintains forward momentum, always enhancing the opportunities we offer the pupils of today and tomorrow. We are proud to provide a superb learning environment within the state sector to boys of all backgrounds, including those of modest means – and purely on merit. QE is aiding social mobility and enhancing life chances by offering a superlative education which equals or surpasses that offered even by expensive and exclusive independent schools.
So whether you plan to come along, or you are unable to make it, please do support us by donating.
My sincere thanks for all your support – and I look forward to seeing very many of you on the day.
Mr Neil Enright
Headmaster

House Music competition goes retro!
The Music department’s eve-of-Founder’s Day challenge returns this year with a video games retro theme. Every form from Years 7–10 will put on an eight-minute live-streamed mini-concert, with their own year groups gathered in The Friends’ Recital Hall on 14th June to watch. Each concert must include one solo and one ensemble performance, involving at least eight boys from each form in total. The challenge for the boys is that those ensemble slots must be an arrangement of either the Super Mario Bros theme or the Tetris theme. All money raised will go the Founder’s Day aim of raising money for AV equipment in The Robert Dudley Studio. Please give generously!

Help still needed: final FQE appeal for the fete
The fete relies on current and former parents volunteering their time to help run the stalls and make sure the event runs smoothly. Thank you to everyone who has risen to the challenge and volunteered so far: please help the FQE Fete Committee fill the last few remaining slots.
Click the link below to register for whichever activity you would like to support – don’t worry, you will be provided with everything you need to manage your stall. And you’ll even receive a goody bag as a thank you!

Also needed are donations (home-made or otherwise) for an afternoon tea – sandwiches, scones, cream, jam, strawberries – and other fresh fruit. Donations can be brought in on Friday 14th June or on the morning of Saturday 15th June.
