Opportunities for enrichment abound at QE: the list of extra-curricular clubs and societies is broad, long and ever-evolving.
Whether boys find fulfilment and interest in areas such Drama, Musical Performance and Sports, or in another field of endeavour – from chess, computing and politics to comics, debating and Sherlock Holmes – QE usually has a club or group that will cater for their needs. And if, by chance, we don’t, we encourage boys to take the initiative: we will try to support them in establishing something new with like-minded pupils.
Many boys derive extensive benefits and gain experiences that will last them a lifetime by participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. A programme of exciting and challenging activities for young people aged 14-25, the scheme offers bronze, silver and gold awards. Participants grow in confidence, learn how to work as a team, acquire new skills and develop friendships. In addition, the award is very helpful when boys complete UCAS university application forms.
We want boys to have fun in their recreational time, while occupying themselves in worthwhile pursuits. Our clubs and societies offer this, and much more besides, including opportunities to socialise with boys from other year groups, to organise events and to take on leadership roles. We strongly encourage all boys to take full advantage.
