ALUMNI SURVEY FEEDBACK
To all our old boys,
I am writing to provide some feedback on the recent survey of QE alumni. This was commissioned by the School from specialist education agency RSAcademics, who conducted the survey and independently analysed the responses, maintaining the anonymity of respondents.
Firstly, I thank everyone who took part. There was a very good number of responses, and the results have certainly given us plenty to think about as our work with alumni continues to evolve. My particular thanks go to all of you who indicated your willingness to help us in various ways: we are hugely grateful and will get back to all who left contact details, although given the limited resources of our Development Office, this may take some time. We are naturally keen to hear from others, too, not least from those who expressed an interest in getting involved, but did not leave their details. If that’s you, or indeed if you missed the survey entirely and would now like to share your views, please email developmentoffice@qebarnet.co.uk.
Looking at the survey results and trends supplied by RSAcademics, we can immediately say that the headline figures were very encouraging:
• 90% stated that they were proud to have attended QE,
• 91% said their education had had a lifelong impact,
• Over 40% of you made an offer of support and left your contact details.
Respondents spanned all generations, from those who were pupils here during the Second World War to those who became our youngest Old Elizabethans this summer. While the results revealed much commonality, they also told us that our alumni want to interact with the School in different ways at different stages of life. It was genuinely interesting to hear your memories from across the decades – there were so many good and positive stories, interspersed with a smaller number of less happy recollections of School life in previous eras.
As we reflect on the survey results, there is much for us to think about and act upon. We shall, for example, be working on arranging more tailored events. Beyond the work we do with our own pupils, we will be doing more to make our old boys aware of what we do to support other young people in the local community. And we will be evolving how we communicate the characteristics of our mission, articulating why we need the support of our alumni.
This is all a work in progress and we are still at an early stage; ultimately it is about supporting our overall vision to produce confident, able and responsible young men in a way that resonates for the 2020s and that links to our current School Plan, Building on Distinction.
I reiterate my gratitude to everyone who engaged with us in the survey. We truly appreciate the feedback.
With very best wishes,
