125th Old Elizabethans Association Annual Dinner

Dear alumni,

I am writing to invite you to join Elizabethans of all generations at your School for the Association’s Annual Dinner. It’s always a very sociable evening – a great opportunity to meet, reconnect and celebrate with fellow alumni over good food and drinks.

My special welcome and invitation goes out to the ten-year leavers’ cohort – those who left Year 13 in 2011 – although of course we welcome and encourage attendance by individuals and groups from all other year groups, too.

Beginning with a drinks reception, the event includes a three-course meal (vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available) and a cash bar. There is plenty of time to socialise and network, both before and after the short after-dinner speeches.

This year’s guest speaker is Dhruv Chhatralia (OE 1996-2003), who received the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s 2020 New Year’s Honours for services to Hinduism and to developing young people. A City lawyer, Dhruv is a regular speaker on the benefits of yoga and the importance of strong mental health; he has also penned more than 20 books on Hinduism.

Tickets are available now online from the School Shop. The evening starts with drinks at 7.15pm for the 8pm dinner in the Main Hall.

A quick reminder

All Old Elizabethans are reminded that they are warmly invited to take part in the alumni survey that is currently underway. We want to hear from as many old boys as possible as we work with our new Development Office, headed by Development Officer Sharla Worrall, to shape and plan alumni relations through to our 450th anniversary and beyond.

The survey should take you around 10 minutes. The deadline for completing it is Monday 11th October 2021.

Thirty-five years after leaving QE, a group of rugby-loving Elizabethans returned to the School on a specially arranged visit that included an opportunity to see the current First XV in action.

Let battle commence! Quiz night invitation

All Old Elizabethans are invited to the FQE Quiz Night at the School on Saturday 6th November at 7.30pm. This popular event, which is also open to parents, staff and friends of the School, returns to an in-person format this year – expect an informal evening in a fun atmosphere. Attendance is free of charge, but attendees are encouraged to make a donation to FQE funds at the dedicated JustGiving page. Alumni who would like to take part should email via the link below, giving the names of those in their party. Tables are of eight people, but you don’t have to get a whole table together to come along.

Join our 450 Club

Joining our 450 Club is a great way to support your School as we approach the 450th anniversary celebrations in 2023. Just commit to donating £450 before September 2022 (in instalments if you wish). Benefits include a free copy of the new history of the School (see below) – and you can have your name listed on its donors’ page, too.

Queen Elizabeth’s School, Barnet, 1573-2023:
the definitive history

The online School Shop is open now to take your orders for the new book by former Headmaster John Marincowitz (1999–2011) that will set out the history of the School from 1573 right through to the present day. The culmination of extensive research, it is being published in March 2023 to coincide with QE’s 450th anniversary celebrations.
